Diane Markin | Volunteer of the Month

Name: Diane Markindiane bigger

About:  Just another crazy cat lady who thinks the smell of cat pee is an aphrodisiac. A friend brought me to a Catnippers event a year and a half ago, and I got hooked.

City and neighborhood: El Segundo, near LAX

Years volunteering at FixNation: 1

Favorite thing about volunteering at FixNation:    I have been an animal wrangler since I was old enough to chase after them and nothing makes me happier than to be with animals. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to volunteer as a vet tech assistant at the Wellness Clinic on Saturdays. Over the past year, I’ve learned how to take temperatures, give vaccines and even draw blood. I get to meet an amazingly diverse selection of pets and their people. There’s never a dull moment.

I may have come for the wrangling but I have stayed because of  the people at FixNation. George and Julio, the vet techs that I work with, are really sweet guys and have been willing to teach me everything I want to learn. The staff and the other volunteers are a great bunch of people, very warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is charged with energy and enthusiasm because everyone here really cares about the animals and it is a very fun place to be.
