Walter The Kitty

Architects for Animals “ Giving Shelter” 2016 on March 10 was a spectacular event that celebrated the artistic and innovative designs of LA’s top architects and designers. These creative geniuses compassionately donated their time to conceptualize and build state-of-the-art cat structures that any homeless cat would be lucky to inhabit.  These works of art were exquisitely photographed by the gifted product photographer, Meghan Beierle-O’Brien who also generously donated her time.

“It was fun to work on an event like that where you are giving back and shooting something precious but something that’s really cool.  The architecture was pretty impressive. To work on something so unique that involves kittens and art.”

In order to test the efficacy and play value of the cathouses FixNation’s Co-Founder Karn Myers fittingly brought in several adoptable kittens for O’Brien to capture during the photo shoot. However, this soon proved to be a seemingly impossible feat for the photographer who literally found herself herding rambunctious and skittish cats to cooperate and pose for the camera in each structure. As the challenging session continued it was clear that she might not ever get the shots she so desired had it not been for the unabashed charismatic, one-year-old orange tabby kitty that O’Brien affectionately referred to as Walter the Kitty. Walter saved the day as O’Brien’s star model. Asked what first impressed her about Walter the Kitty, she said,

“Honestly it was seeing how comfortable he was with strangers and on a photo shoot. He just seemed so relaxed. And I just thought, oh my gosh this cat is really great. He loved getting his picture taken. The lights would flash and he’d blink a few times and look back at me like a true model”. The photographer in me was smitten. I wish I could adopt Walter but I am highly allergic to cats. He’s so special that I hope people will take notice of this adorable kitty and that someone will adopt him.”

As luck would have it Walter’s rising star secured him a loving home after his adorable pictures went viral.

Here’s to Walter the Kitty who strutted his stuff on the architectural catwalk; proving once again that some of the most precocious and loving cats come from local rescues like Adopt and Shop.
