However, our seasoned veterans know this is a very treatable disease, and while it's uncomfortable for the cat, it can get turned around with a little extra care and attention. Mange is caused by a parasite, or a very small bug. These parasites actually live and feed on the cat, who acts as a "host". The mites either live topically on the cat or they [...]

The TNR Ruling in LA: What Does It Mean, What Doesn’t It Mean?

On December 4, 2009, Superior Court judge McKnew ruled that the City of Los Angeles’ modest support of the Trap Neuter and Return of feral cats within the city should have been reviewed in compliance with CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) before being implemented. The ruling was followed by a court-ordered injunction that currently prevents the city from supporting TNR in any way until the city’s TNR program passes a CEQA review. Here is an FAQ on what this means on a practical level: 1. Is TNR now illegal? Answer: No. TNR is legal for private citizens and rescue organizations [...]

Judge’s Ruling Impacts TNR in Los Angeles – Sign FixNation’s Petition To Support TNR

FixNation wants you to know about an important development in Los Angeles concerning TNR. Last month a local judge issued a ruling in response to a lawsuit filed against the City of LA by wild bird groups, ordering that the City of Los Angeles is suspended in supporting and promoting Trap-Neuter-Return as a means to help homeless cats. FixNation’s Trap Loan Program

FixNation loans out humane traps, carriers and equipment free of charge to the public, provided you are using our services. The traps we loan out are humane traps that won’t harm the cats. While the traps may look intimidating, they are actually very safe. Using a humane trap is the safest solution to catch a feral cat – safer for both the cat and for you. It’s also the best way to temporarily house and transport them. Furthermore, it’s safer and easier for our vet techs to anesthetize the cat through a trap, as well as monitor the cat’s recovery [...]
