The Station Fire is the largest fire southern California has seen in over 100 years. The fire raged across La Canada, Pasadena and surrounding areas north of Los Angeles in August and September of this year, and destroyed over 140,000 acres of land and hundreds of homes. Two firefighters lost their lives, and countless animals were displaced and killed during the horrific inferno. It took until mid October to fully contain the blaze.
During the period of mandatory evacuation in many of the areas, tiny little Ember was found. She was three weeks old at the time she was discovered by an emergency worker in the evacuation area. No siblings or mother were around. Ember was quickly whisked away to the Pasadena Humane Society, which was the temporary housing site for displaced animals during the crisis, and then Ember was transferred over to an emergency veterinary clinic for further medical care. One of FixNation’s veterinarians, Dr. Valerie Heifler, was working the emergency clinic when little Ember was brought in. After treating her at the clinic, Dr. Heifler took Ember to her personal home to monitor her care and progress. Ember was then transferred into a foster home a couple of weeks later.

Ember recently found the perfect forever home!
Little Ember is now 12 weeks old and quite the spark of life!… She is a grey fluffball of fire and action! Ember was recently shown at the Best Friends Super Adoption event in November, which is one of the largest pet adoption events nationwide with over 60 rescue groups participating. She was shown specifically with the leading cat rescue organization Kitten Rescue. Lucky little Ember was adopted by a couple named Jeff and Mandy, who adopted both Ember and another little kitten named Mila. Ember, now Oda Mae Embers, has found her forever home, loving parents and a forever playmate.
