For the third consecutive year, FixNation was invited to participate in the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration at the historic Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 27.
Ever since we began working with the cemetery to fix their resident cat colony, we have been the only non-profit to have an altar at this increasingly popular event. With an estimated 20,000 visitors, this year’s celebration smashed previous attendance records, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the amount of visitors we had.
Our dedicated volunteers put in long hours through unseasonably blazing sunshine and damp graveyard nights to build a fabulous altar in honor of all our feline friends who have passed on. In addition to an amazingly creative and engaging altar, we distributed outreach materials and raised the public’s awareness not just of FixNation’s mission, but of feral cats, TNR programs, and animal welfare in general.
Many thanks to our volunteers, the staff at Hollywood Forever, and everybody who dropped by. We’ll see you next year!
