Steve Lockhart has been volunteering with FixNation since 2010. He was chosen as FixNation’s January Volunteer of the Month because of his consistent and ongoing support in the clinic, and his willingness to learn new things and take on tasks as needed to keep things moving smoothly.
Here’s a bit more about Steve in his own words:
I’m originally from Northern California and now I live in the NoHo Arts District. I’ve worked in the entertainment biz for many years. I love cats because their poo is so much smaller than dogs!!!! I’m kind of an animal person and find myself helping out no matter how big or how small— from lady bug larvae to elephants…
What brought you to want to volunteer for FixNation?
Best Friends told me FixNation was looking for people to help out.
What is your favorite thing about volunteering at FixNation?
Finding out what crazy cat ladies look like…just kidding.. The cats!! Also, the camaraderie of the staff… and did I mention—CATS!!
How many cats do you currently have?
You won’t believe me when I tell you. This is funny—but only for it’s irony. I have no cats! I do take care of one feral cat. She had two babies, but they both died within several months (one was sickly and one was hit by a car). I had the mother fixed—she was pregnant again— and I sometimes feed a stray down the street.
