It all begins with a pregnant community cat who chose what she thought was a safe spot to give birth to her kittens – a large storm drain on an MTA parking lot! The problem would soon be clear: how could she possibly get these kittens out of this 4 foot deep box, especially with an impending rain forecasted for LA? Enter an extraordinary CATS Inc. foster and trapper who heard about these kittens, and with a little help was able to remove the manhole cover. She descended into the sewer system herself to catch these babies.
Dirty, covered with fleas and scared, Beans, Blanket, and Barney (as they would soon be named) were rescued by this brave soul. After a couple of flea baths, some nutritional kitten food, and a whole lotta love they were content kittens. Things got better from there: these kitties were then fostered for a few weeks and properly socialized. When large enough, they were then taken to FixNation to be fixed, tested, vaccinated, and microchipped before being posted on Petfinder for adoption.
As a rescue group, CATS Inc. always does their very best to adopt their animals into safe and loving homes. But nobody could have dreamt that the loving home for these three, lucky siblings would be under one roof! A cat-loving family in Camarillo was originally interested in just Beans, but then met Blanket. So it was Blanket and Beans. But then they met Barney – and they were smitten from there! They adopted Beans and Blanket AND Barney, ensuring that these “sewer babies” got to stay together for life! Their digs have been much upgrade, providing these souls with the happy family they so deserve.
Isn’t this the story we all want to tell, every time? Isn’t this why we do rescue? Share if you agree!
