Congratulations to Tim Bounthoch who won a free outdoor shelter for their colony cats and a bottle of Feral Flower Essence from FixNation board member Jackson Galaxy’s Spirit Essences line through FixNation’s National Feral Cat Day story competition!
I have an orange tabby colony cat name Tiger that roamed in my community and no one cared about him and the other cats. But one day we met and felt in love at first sight even though he was skinny and kind of ugly (like an ugly duckling! lol) but looks don’t count so I slowly tried to get close to him everyday by feeding and putting out my hands to pet him but he didn’t let me, he just backed off and ran away. I kept doing this for a while until one day he came to me and let me pet him then he allowed me to pick him up and place him on my lap and I scratched him all over his body even the belly! I got him fixed, shots and gave him flea collar also. It was unbelievable!!! We became friends from that day on.
Every evening between 6:00 – 6:30 he comes to my front door for food so I let him in the house to eat soft food and dry food with my own cats (they all get along) then he walks back to the front door so I can let him out. He stays and sleeps to GUARD in front of my front door all night until the next morning. I GOT ME A GUARD CAT!!!
The other night I was trying to trap the cats with two traps placed next to each other spaced about 12″ apart. Here came Tiger walking back and forth around both traps checking them out but wouldn’t go in. Then he sat down right in between the 2 traps like he was guarding them the whole time. Finally a very hungry gray cat came, walked around and sniffed one of the traps then looked at Tiger and walked to him. I don’t know what they said to each other but the gray cat left. I got up and chased Tiger away so he wouldn’t interfere the others but that didn’t do any good because no other cats came that night. I thought that was cute what Tiger did, but still don’t understand what was his intention was because he was not aggressive or anything just sitting there even when the gray cat came along instead of chasing it away. I think he either told her it was a trap or it is dangerous. What else could it be…there were 3 other cats beside him that night and I didn’t catch any, he must have warned them. He is a smart and intelligent boy. He is my son and my Guard Cat. As a matter of fact everybody in the community know Tiger is my son. He is a special cat.
