Congratulations to Michelle Garcia who won a free outdoor shelter for their colony cats and a bottle of Feral Flower Essence from FixNation board member Jackson Galaxy’s Spirit Essences line through FixNation’s National Feral Cat Day story competition!
I care for a colony of 4 cats. Last summer two more adult cats showed up. I trapped them and brought them in to FixNation. The wonderful staff were great and helped me. They told me that the female had recently given birth. Oh no just the thing I was trying to avoid. Then two weeks later I saw two kittens in the back yard. I was able to trap them when they were about a month old and started coming to eat dry food with mama. My next door neighbor said he had seen kittens in my yard in the following days. I knew he was wrong because I had already caught them and had them indoors. To my surprise I saw three more kittens. Once again I spent long nights trying to trap them. Now I had 5 kittens I was caring for. But the neighbor said he saw kittens still in the back yard. Long story short I had a total of 9 kittens I was caring for. Desperately trying to find homes for them, the time was now October and they were growing fast. With Halloween near some people said just given them out to the tricker treaters. I knew it was not that easy, but no one wanted them. I had help from Kitty Bungalow they helped me place 4 of the kittens in homes that took two each. The TLC veterinary in Alhambra was able to place one in a great home. I kept the one that was sick with mange. My three friends took the last three. Let me tell you I never knew a cat litter could be so big. Thank you FixNation for the great work you have done and continue to do year after year.
