At FixNation, our phone is always ringing. It’s a sound we love to hear because it means people care, that cats will be taken care of. One particular call came in about a house that had a momma cat and four kittens roaming around, all unfixed. The owner of the home had started trapping, but didn’t know about FixNation. Instead, he was taking the family to the shelter. After the neighbors talked to him, he reached out to us and let us work with him on the problem.
It wasn’t just one family; turns out there were many cats around the neighborhood, and they all needed some TNR love. After lots of teamwork, the last little kitten stood behind the house, next to the owner’s trap, crying and seemingly very hungry. We decided to set a trap with a string release because she seemed too small to trigger the trap. After a bit of time on her part so she could investigate the contraption, and a bit of patience on our part as we watched, we finally got her. She turned out to be quiet a little sprite.
One of our best volunteers offered to take this kitty home and see what she was like. At first she was very frightened and stood back defensively. But after five minutes with his wife…
Then after ten minutes…
Then fifteen…
Eventually those minutes become forever. She couldn’t get enough of them and they couldn’t get enough of her. She was adopted after only one night, and we are thrilled she became part of the FixNation family.
