Jerry Shaia | Volunteer of the Month, Mar 2013

I’m 46, have a studio apartment, a bad attitude and 3 cats. I grew up on a horse ranch in Montana, but have been in LA since ’85, when i moved out here to go to college. I worked in the music industry as a writer for a trade mag for ten years, and recently have had the opportunity to start writing again for an online music magazine. I’ve played in a couple punk bands, and actually got paid as a professional musician, which was kind of strange. I love horror movies, punk, metal, slam dancing and exercise. And I’ve always loved animals. Jerry Shaia, Volunteer of the Month, Mar 2013

Name: Gerald Shaia (or Jerry, whichever)

City and Neighborhood: Los Angeles, Sun Valley

Years Volunteering at FN: 1

What Brought You to want to volunteer for FN: I love animals and take care of some feral cats which were fixed at FN. I became unemployed (again) and wanted to do something worthwhile and fulfilling while i was looking for a job. I care about animal advocacy and i wanted to help animals in need.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering at FN: It is the best part of my week. I like all the people i work with at FN. Volunteering allows me to give back to the community and help make the lives of feral cats a little easier.

Favorite Viral cat Video: Henri 2, Paw de Deux, hilarious! Also, Bastard the Cat (beware language!)
