Happy National Feral Cat Day!
Have you heard my own feral kitty rescue story? Earlier this year I (Morgan) found a precious cat sunbathing in my backyard. The cat had no collar and I resolved she must be without a home…
But she was gentle and became a pleasant visitor, so I began setting out food in my backyard for her to enjoy.
A few weeks later, I found the cat cozied up against the porch…and snuggled-up close to her belly were newborn kittens! It was a beautiful sight. But I could only enjoy it temporarily because the truth was: these kittens and their mother were homeless. And that’s how the story usually ends. But I wasn’t satisfied.
I decided to adopt the mother and her kittens and took them all to FixNation for vaccinations and spay/neuter services. I was grateful and relieved to see that there is an organization in my city ready and willing to care for homeless cats. If I hadn’t decided to adopt the cats, I could still bring them to FixNation to devise a humane Trap-Neuter-Return plan.
I found the hospitality at FixNation—for both their human and animal guests—to be exactly what I’d hoped for: absolutely neighborly.
