Gato was living off scraps from student lunches outside a Los Angeles high school until three seniors took action to help him. With the assistance of a kind-hearted trapper and two fosters, FixNation eventually placed Gato at the Eastwood Ranch in Agoura, where he soon assumed the role of Chief Kitten Wrangler. It took some time to find the perfect home for Gato but the lucky family who ended up adopting him (and one of his kitten buddies, Willow) absolutely loves this little guy. Worth the wait!

Our 250,000th cat! Cloud is a friendly female community cat who became the 250,000th cat spayed or neutered at FixNation (November 2023). Luxe Paws founder Jacquie Navratil, the trapper who brought in Cloud, was presented with cat-themed merchandise donated by FixNation board members Jackson Galaxy and Kimberlie Hamilton, as well as a supply of food to distribute to Cloud and all the other kitties in her colony in downtown L.A.

Shadow is the queen of the Home Depot in Woodland Hills, CA where she serves as the store’s resident mouser. She came to us for spay surgery and returned the next day to her home turf, where she patrols the aisles of the garden center and makes customers smile. See photos of this thriving working cat on Instagram @shadowthehomedepotcat_.

FixNation was part of the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities at Hollywood Forever for many years. Our 2016 altar featured memorial prayer ribbons for the first time. Hundreds of cat lovers came to the altar and wrote the name of their cat and a heartfelt message on a length of ribbon, then tied it onto our “Tree of Life,” the theme of that year’s event.

Our 2017 Architects for Animals® “Giving Shelter” exhibit at the HermanMiller Showroom in Culver City was a sold-out event benefitting FixNation’s TNR programs. Top architects and designers were invited to design, build and donate functional outdoor dwellings for cats. Also on display were handpainted cat food bowls contributed by feline-loving celebrities – including Jay Leno, Charlize Theron, Beau Bridges, Elvira, William Shatner, Clint Eastwood, Tricia Helfer and Morgan Fairchild – which were sold via an online auction.

Jay Leno’s cats at his famous garage in the San Fernando Valley, just a stone’s throw from our former clinic, have all been sterilized at FixNation. Jay has been a generous supporter of our spay/neuter mission in many ways, including testimonials for fundraisers and even contributing hand-painted “celebrity cat food bowls” for our Architects for Animals fundraising events.

FixNation sterilized a number of the Disneyland Cats living within the famous theme park and resort. The cats were all TNR’d and are now looked after by their own team of caregivers. They’ve gained a loyal following on Instagram @disneylandcats and are doing a superb job of raising awareness about working cats and the many benefits of Trap-Neuter-Return.

FixNation worked in partnership with LUXE Paws to TNR a colony of community cats at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. An amazingly dedicated team of volunteer trappers went out to the stadium each night to set up humane traps and returned at dawn to check on them. We are delighted that the Dodgers’ management is genuinely concerned about the cats’ welfare and eager to make life better for the felines that have made the ballpark their forever home.

After we heard about the feral cats living on Catalina Island in 2015, we were inspired to undertake the “Catalina Cat-Lift”. Volunteers spent two days trapping cats at Two Harbors before a generous benefactor flew out a medical team with supplies and equipment, including an anesthesia machine. Our MASH-style clinic sterilized and treated all 29 cats on-site!

222 cats fixed in a single day! In January 2023, FixNation and the Team Spay4LA mobile van set a new record for the largest number of community cat sterilizations in a single day in LA County…222 cats fixed! Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Steven Latham was on hand with his crew to record the history-making day for his “Shelter Me” series on PBS. His episode “It’s Raining Cats” features FixNation and our work with homeless cats in Los Angeles.

The owners of Hollywood Forever came to FixNation years ago and asked us to spay and neuter all the community cats living on the grounds. One of our clients, Close Up, was a well-known resident of the cemetery for many years. He has since been adopted by a cemetary tour guide and now has a devoted following on Instagram @closeupthecemeterycat.
