Bringing Tame Cats to FixNation

Tame cats are considered pet cats or even friendly stray cats who have been abandoned or “strayed” from home, but were likely once pet cats. Tame cats can be picked up, held and easily handled. For more clarification on the differences between tame, stray and feral cats, see our FAQ section (above link).

No initial application is needed to bring a tame cat to our clinic, but advance reservations are required.

Feral cats – Step 1) Complete an application

Feral cats are outdoor, free-roaming cats who are not socialized to humans. They are generally wild and unhandleable. Whether you have just one or two cats or kittens who showed up in your yard, or if you are dealing with a feral cat colony of many, you will need to complete our feral cat application form. Feral cats – Step 2) Schedule traps & book reservations

After we receive your application, someone from our team will be following up with you within approximately 72 hours to finish your enrollment.

If you submitted a feral cat application and you do have traps, we will call you to go over our clinic guidelines and protocol with you and immediately get you booked for reservations.

If you submitted a feral cat application and you do not have traps, we will call you to schedule time for you to come in to pick up humane traps from us and get trained on …

Key Highlights

Whether you’re a master trapper or just a beginner, here are the key highlights you’ll need to remember:

- Never leave a trap out unattended for any length of time, whatsoever.

- Do not trap cats after midnight the night before your appointment, due to the risk of the cat vomiting while undergoing anesthesia.

- Make sure the back of the trap is locked and kept locked.

- Line the bottom of the trap with newspaper.

Appointment day

Check-in time for all cats is is between 7:00 – 8:30 a.m. daily. If you are bringing tame cats, we ask that get to the clinic by 8:00 a.m. to allow more time for health exams before surgery.

Pick-up time is before 5:00 p.m. every weekday except Thursdays. We have extended hours on Thursdays until 7:00 p.m.

If you did not catch any cats for your appointment, please give our office a call that night or first thing in the morning to let us know you won’t make it. You can leave …
