We are so grateful to have received an in-kind grant of 3 pallets of dry cat food from the ASPCA, made possible by 9Lives. This food will be made available to pet owners and community cat caregivers on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of 2 bags per person. Whiskers in the Moonlight: Kicking up heels for a cause

This summer’s Whiskers in the Moonlight concert brought out the best of LA’s music lovers and cat advocates for a night of fun under the stars. The setting couldn’t have been more beautiful in the open-air courtyard of the famous Autry in Griffith Park. As guests nibbled on vegan tacos and drank wine or beer, the party got underway with Morgan Fairchild as Mistress of Ceremonies, and a special video message from FixNation friend and Board Member, Jackson Galaxy. The three acts, Podunk Poets, Eileen Carey, and The Carl Verheyen Band got a few brave souls on their feet for [...]

Dedicated To The Ones We’ve Loved: FixNation’s 6th Annual Day of the Dead Altar, October 24

FixNation participated in Los Angeles’ annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration at the famous Hollywood Forever cemetery, held this year on Oct. 24. Co-founder Karn Myers and her dedicated team created an amazing interactive altar in honor of lost and deceased cats. The popular altar was also a chance to educate the public about FixNation’s work on behalf of the untold numbers of homeless, stray and feral cats still living amongst us in LA. This was FixNation’s 6th appearance at the Day of the Dead event, and we are proud to be the only animal welfare [...]

Featured Volunteer: Heather Smith

With five rescues of her own plus a colony of friendly ferals to care for, it’s clear that Heather Smith has a genuine passion for homeless cats. Her friends even refer to the street she lives on as “Black Cat Lane” due to several feral kitties who have happily made a home there. Heather was introduced to FixNation and TNR back in 2014, when she and a neighbor trapped three cats living in her back garden. “We followed the detailed FixNation instructions to the letter, and within five minutes of setting out the traps we had the mama cat in [...]

Featured Volunteer: Kim Reed

Kim Reed is a TNR superhero. She is responsible for saving these kittens during one of the recent TNR Project trapping nights coordinated by our amazing FixNation friend, Joe Federico.  These seven kittens were plucked out of a junkyard in Irwindale. There had been several SOS calls from the facility, as it is unfortunately a dumping ground for many animals. With the help of people who had been rescuing and pulling dogs from this site for years now, feeding stations were set up to get a tally on how many cats were at the facility as well as a regular routine [...]
